RESUMO

Suffering from the formation of metal-ion dendrites and low storage capacity, MXene materials exhibit unsatisfactory performance in Li and Na storage. In this study, we demonstrate that the MXene V3C2Cl2 structure can induce uniform Li and Na deposition. This is achieved through coherent heterogeneous interface reconstruction and regulated ion tiling by halogen surface termination. The high lattice matching (91% and 99%) between MXenes and Li/Na, along with positive Cl terminal regulation, guides Li/Na ions to nucleate uniformly on the V3C2Cl2 MXene matrix and grow in a planar manner. Cl termination proves effective in regulating Li/Na ions due to its moderate adsorption and diffusion coefficients. Furthermore, upon adsorption onto the Cl-terminated V3C2Cl2 monolayer, Li4 and Na4 clusters undergo dissociation, favoring uniform adsorption over cluster adsorption. V3C2Cl2 MXenes exhibit impressive Li/Na storage capacities of 434.07 mA h g-1 for Li and 217.03 mA h g-1 for Na, surpassing the Li storage capacity of Ti3C2Cl2 by three-fold and the Na storage capacity of V2C by 1.4 times. This study highlights the regulatory role of Cl surface terminals in dendrite formation and Li/Na ion deposition, with potential applications to other metal-ion storage electrodes.

RESUMO

The magnetic reconnection process relevant to that at the magnetotail is one of the research contents of the Space Plasma Environment Research Facility, which is under construction at the Harbin Institute of Technology in China. Two magnetic mirror sub-coils placed symmetrically in the vertical direction and connected in series cooperate with a dipole coil to generate a magnetic field environment similar to the Earth's magnetotail. A capacitor-based pulsed power supply (PPS) system with a modular design is developed to excite two magnetic mirror sub-coils to generate a magnetic field with a magnetic flux density of not less than 200 G at the center of the two sub-coils. The PPS should deliver a pulsed current with a peak of more than 8 kA, and the duration of the current not be less than 95% of the peak over 5 ms to two magnetic mirror sub-coils when the charging voltage is not less than 20 kV. In addition, the duration from the peak to 10% of the peak is not more than 130 ms. The detailed design of the PPS is discussed in this paper, and a test method is designed to reduce the risk of damage to the wires and the connection between the wires and the coaxial cables of the PPS when the PPS discharges at a higher charging voltage. Finally, the discharge test of the PPS is carried out to verify the design of the PPS.

RESUMO

Polyimide (PI) films are widely used in electronic devices owing to their excellent mechanical and electrical properties and high thermal and chemical stabilities. In particular, PI films play an important role in flexible printed circuit boards (FPCBs). However, one challenge currently faced with their use is that the adhesives used in FPCBs cause a high dielectric loss in high-frequency applications. Therefore, it is envisioned that PI films with a low dielectric loss and Cu films can be used to prepare two-layer flexible copper-clad laminates (FCCLs) without any adhesive. However, the preparation of ultra-thin FCCLs with no adhesives is difficult owing to the low peel strength between PI films and Cu films. To address this technical challenge, an FCCL with no adhesive was prepared via high-power helicon wave plasma (HWP) treatment. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were tested. Also, the surface roughness of the PI film and the peel strength between the PI film and Cu film were measured. The experimental results show that the surface roughness of the PI film increased by 40-65% and the PI film demonstrated improved adhesion (the peel strength was >8.0 N/cm) with the Cu film following plasma treatment and Cu plating.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Pulsatile-flow veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (V-A ECMO) has shown encouraging results for microcirculation resuscitation and left ventricle unloading in patients with refractory cardiogenic shock. We aimed to comprehensively assess different V-A ECMO parameters and their contribution to hemodynamic energy production and transfer through the device circuit. METHODS: We used the i-cor® ECMO circuit, which composed of Deltastream DP3 diagonal pump and i-cor® console (Xenios AG), the Hilite 7000 membrane oxygenator (Xenios AG), venous and arterial tubing and a 1 L soft venous pseudo-patient reservoir. Four different arterial cannulae (Biomedicus 15 and 17 Fr, Maquet 15 and 17 Fr) were used. For each cannula, 192 different pulsatile modes were investigated by adjusting flow rate, systole/diastole ratio, pulsatile amplitudes and frequency, yielding 784 unique conditions. A dSpace data acquisition system was used to collect flow and pressure data. RESULTS: Increasing flow rates and pulsatile amplitudes were associated with significantly higher hemodynamic energy production (both p < 0.001), while no significant associations were seen while adjusting systole-to-diastole ratio (p = 0.73) or pulsing frequency (p = 0.99). Arterial cannula represents the highest resistance to hemodynamic energy transfer with 32%-59% of total hemodynamic energy generated being lost within, depending on pulsatile flow settings used. CONCLUSIONS: Herein, we presented the first study to compare hemodynamic energy production with all pulsatile ECLS pump settings and their combinations and widely used yet previously unexamined four different arterial ECMO cannula. Only increased flow rate and amplitude increase hemodynamic energy production as single factors, whilst other factors are relevant when combined.

RESUMO

The Space Plasma Environment Research Facility uses a coil system with the corresponding pulsed power supply (PPS) system to generate a very flexible magnetosphere-like magnetic configuration. Its purpose is to investigate the 3D asymmetric reconnection and the processes of trapping, acceleration, and transport of energetic charged particles restrained in a dipole magnetic field configuration, as well as the physical mechanism of the dipolarization front in the magnetotail. The control and monitoring function of the PPS system is realized by the integrated control subsystem, which adopts a two-layer network structure of the control layer and device layer and is developed based on the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System framework. The control layer includes a remote control system that consists of an engineer station and an operator station and the data storage system. Both the engineer station and operator station are developed by Control System Studio. The data storage system is based on the combination of the Hierarchical Data Format 5 database and MySQL database, and the data management software of the data storage system is developed based on LabVIEW. The synchronous trigger device, the safety interlocking device, the local controller of each set of PPS, and the module controller of each discharge module are the device layer. Their hardware is designed and developed based on the Field Programmable Gate Array, and their software is based on the Quartus II platform and programmed with the Verilog Hardware Description Language language. The function of the integrated control subsystem is verified by the discharge test of the PPS system.

RESUMO

A steady-state, high-flux N2/Ar helicon wave plasma (HWP) with a small diameter (10 mm) was used to nitride the interior of a slender austenitic stainless steel (ASS) 316L tube at a temperature of 450 °C. N2 and Ar were fed to a 500 mm long slender tube with 10 mm inner diameter and were ionized inside the tube using a helicon wave in the magnetic field of 2000 G. The microstructure and depth of the nitrided layers, in addition to the morphology and hardness of the nitrided surfaces, were intensively characterized by employing scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical microscopy (OM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), as well as microhardness tests. The results confirmed that the nitrided layer consisted primarily of the expanded austenite phase γN, and neither CrN nor iron nitride precipitates. An increasing trend in microhardness was observed in inductively coupled plasma (ICP) and HWP modes; however, the increase in HWP nitriding (up to HV 1820 with a thickness of 14 µm) was approximately 1.5 times greater than that achieved through ICP plasma nitriding. This was owing to the higher N+ ion density in the HWP mode. Considering the successful control of N2 plasma discharge in a slender tube with a small diameter, this study opens up a new avenue for achieving high-yield nitride layers inside slender tubes.

RESUMO

3D asymmetric magnetic reconnection is an important investigation of the Space Plasma Environment Research Facility, which is being built as a user facility at the Harbin Institute of Technology in China. Four magnetosheath coils, which consist of Poloidal Field (labeled PF) coils and Toroidal Field (labeled TF) coils, are used to generate the magnetic field and plasma environment for the reconnecting experiment. A capacitor-based pulsed power supply (PPS) system with a modular design is developed to excite the magnetosheath coils to generate the required amplitude and duration of the magnetic field. The PPS system includes the PF PPS and TF PPS, which include four sets of PPSs, respectively. Each set of PF PPS and TF PPS consists of nine modules and four modules, respectively, and each module consists of a charge and discharge unit. The PF PPS can provide a pulsed current of no less than 360 kA for the corresponding PF coil at 0.11 ms when the charging voltage is 20 kV, and the duration of the pulsed current from the peak to 10% of the peak is no more than 0.6 ms. The TF PPS can provide a pulsed current of no less than 200 kA for the corresponding TF coil at 0.08 ms when the charging voltage is 20 kV, and the duration of the pulsed current from the peak to 10% of the peak is no more than 1.6 ms. The detailed design of the PPS has been discussed in this paper, and the detailed design of the main components in the discharge unit of the PPS is also given in this paper. Finally, the discharge tests of all the PPSs are carried out to verify the design of the PPSs, and the results of the PPSs in discharge tests indicate that all the PPSs meet the design requirements.

RESUMO

The Space Plasma Environment Research Facility (SPERF) currently under construction at the Harbin Institute of Technology in China is a user facility dedicated to studying space plasma physics on the ground. A coil system of the SPERF consists of seven types of coils, which are used to generate the magnetic fields and plasma required by the physical experiments. A dipole coil of the coil system works with four magnetosheath coils (flux cores) to build the magnetic fields resembling that of the Earth and solar wind. A capacitor-based pulsed power supply (PPS) system with a modular design is developed to excite the dipole coil to generate a magnetosphere-like magnetic field required by the magnetopause magnetic reconnection experiment. The PPS of the dipole coil has a longer pulse duration and more energy than that of other coils in the coil system, it delivers a pulsed current with a peak of more than 18 kA, and the duration of the current is not less than 95% of the peak over 10 ms to the dipole coil when the charging voltage is not less than 20 kV. The detailed design of the PPS is discussed in this paper, and the discharge test of the PPS is carried out to verify the design of the PPS.

RESUMO

The Space Plasma Environment Research Facility currently under construction at the Harbin Institute of Technology in China uses four magnetosheath coils (flux cores) and a dipole coil to generate the magnetic field required for the study on the magnetopause magnetic reconnection. Two groups of magnetopause shape control coils (labeled CK coils) are used to slightly adjust the magnetic field distribution on the magnetopause. A capacitive pulsed power supply (PPS) system with a modular design is developed to excite CK coils. The PPS system consists of six sets of PPS with the same principle and structure, which are used to excite six sub-coils of the CK coils, respectively. Each set of PPS consists of ten modules and one local controller, and each module consists of a charger and discharge unit. Each set of PPS can provide a pulsed current of no less than 400 kA for the corresponding sub-coil at 0.11 ms when the charging voltage is 20 kV, and the duration of the pulsed current from the peak to 10% of the peak is no more than 0.6 ms. The detailed design of the PPS is discussed in this paper, and the discharge test of the PPS is carried out to verify the design of the PPS. Because there are acquisition and control devices in the discharge unit, the electromagnetic interference immunity design is also discussed to ensure the normal operation of the PPS.

RESUMO

A magnet system is used in the SPERF to create the magnetic field configuration for simulating the space plasma environment. In this paper, the parameters of the system are designed to achieve the target fields needed by the scaling laws, and the electromagnetic analysis has been performed to validate the results. A procedure to obtain the parameters is proposed based on the investigation into the physical and technological constraints. The vacuum magnetic fields for studying the 3D magnetic reconnection at the magnetopause, Earth's magnetosphere, and 3D magnetic reconnection driven by a plasma gun are computed. In addition, the engineering complexity is reviewed in brief. This research is crucial to the construction of the SPERF, and it is valuable to designing the magnets applied in other fields.

RESUMO

The capacitor-based pulsed power supply (PPS) system is an important subsystem of the Space Plasma Environment Research Facility being built as a user facility at Harbin Institute of Technology in China. It has been developed with a modular design to drive magnetic coils to generate magnetic fields and plasma for the physical experiments. In this paper, the modular design and component selection are proposed based on a calculation of parameter ranges of components and the number of modules followed by a simulation and an engineering test. Both the simulation and test results show the feasibility of the selected components and the number of modules to meet the designing requirements of the PPS.

RESUMO

The Space Plasma Environment Research Facility (SPERF) is a new ground-based experimental device for fundamental research studies on space plasma currently under construction at Harbin Institute of Technology in China. Scientific objectives of the SPERF include studying the asymmetric reconnection dynamics relevant to the interaction between the interplanetary and magnetospheric plasmas, reproducing the inner magnetosphere to simulate the processes of trapping, acceleration, and transport of energetic charged particles restrained in a dipole magnetic field configuration, and revealing the physical mechanism of the dipolarization front in the magnetotail. The device comprises a vacuum chamber, 11 coils consisting of 18 groups of sub-coils that are independently programmablely energized, and the plasma source system to provide the magnetic field and the plasma required by the physical experiments. Thus, each of these 18 groups of sub-coils requires a separate pulsed power supply; furthermore, the 18 pulsed power supplies constitute the pulsed power supply system of the SPERF of which the total storage energy is up to 18.3 MJ, and the technical challenges have to be overcome. The power supply energizing a dipole field coil (labeled OJC coil) wired by the copper wire to provide a dipole magnetic field is the most energetic power supply (labeled OJC power supply) with a 2.42 MJ, 16.8 mF capacitor bank charged to 20 kV. The OJC power supply delivers a current with a peak of 18 kA for a rise time of ∼26.69 ms, and the duration of the current is not less than 95% of the peak over 10 ms to the OJC coil. Meanwhile, the most challenging power supply is the power supply labeled poloidal field power supply with a 5.04 mF capacitor bank charged to 20 kV, which provides the excitation current for the load coil set with the current not less than 360 kA at the typical time of 0.11 ms to produce the sufficient growth of the magnetic field that the experiments need. In this paper, the overall design of the pulsed power supply system, the design concept of the modularization, and the principle selection basis of the key components are presented. The technical details of each power supply will be demonstrated in the future.

RESUMO

In order to generate a current pulse with tens of milliseconds flattop time on an inductive load for pulse magnetic window technology research, a prototype of pulsed power supply is fabricated and tested. It is composed of several pulse forming units with capacitor banks and a thyristor switch and can generate a flattop current pulse by triggering sequentially the thyristor valve of pulse forming units at certain time or adjust a current waveform by altering triggering time of units. The results show that the prototype with four pulse forming units can generate a current pulse with 5 ms flattop time and 35 kA peak current, and its energy transfer efficiency is significantly higher than that of conventional circuits such as parallel capacitor banks or pulse forming networks.
